Mary Baker Eddy founded The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts and created a mandate in the Christian Science manual for branch churches. Our church is one of these branches.

As a child, she was a dedicated student of the Bible and grew up in a religious family. She was healed instantaneously, after reading the account of one of Jesus' healings in the Bible, from internal injuries resulting from a fall on the ice when the medical prognosis was that she would not survive. She then spent three years studying the Bible, striving to discover how Jesus healed and how she had been healed. After she had tested her ideas by healing others and after a physician who had witnessed the healing of a patient on whom he had given up told her she should write a book to explain how she did this healing, she wrote Science and Health to enable others to be healed and to heal.
